Der Konkurrenzkampf ist in vielen Branchen auf dem Höhepunkt. Dank der Globalisierung wird der Wettbewerb immer größer. Dies führt dazu, dass viele Unternehmen mehr und mehr Innovationen benötigen, um weiterhin am Markt mitzuspielen. Dies ist aber aufgrund der steigenden Komplexität der neuen Entwicklungen nur durch große Entwicklerteams und viele kreative Köpfe umsetzbar. Die Kommunikation im Web 2.0 oder auch Web 3.0 ermöglichen zusätzlich eine vereinfachte Kommunikation über weite Strecken. Warum also nicht die kreative Energie einer großen Masse nutzen? Ideen entstehen heute nicht mehr hinter der Fassade, sondern viele Unternehmen nutzen Open Innovation um ihr Produkt auf das nächst höhere Level zu heben. Eine Crowd Innovation Plattform nutzt die Masse, um mittels offener Innovation Probleme zu lösen oder neue Produkte zu entwickeln. Im ersten Schritt, um eine erfolgreiche „Crowd“ aufzubauen, setzt man die richtigen Anreize, Motivationen und wählt das richtige Design der Plattform.

A Crowd Innovation platform uses Crowds to solve problems or develop new products through open innovation. The first step in creating innovation with such a platform is to choose the right incentives, motivations and the right platform design to build a successful „crowd“.
